Target Background

Function
Required for assembling actin at ring canals in developing egg chambers. Probably interacts with other developmental proteins involved in nurse cell/oocyte transport through the ring canals. Important for normal neuromotor function.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Knocking out of hts gene causes locomotion deficits in Drosophila flies. PMID: 23836506
  2. We propose that phosphorylation-dependent regulation of Hts/Adducin controls the level, localization, and activity of Hts/Adducin, influencing actin-based synapse elaboration and spectrin-based synapse stabilization. PMID: 21435557
  3. Gogo both positively and negatively regulates Hts that affects the Actin-Spectrin cytoskeleton in growth cone filopodia, thereby guiding photoreceptor axons. PMID: 21128303
  4. results indicate that hts function is necessary for centrosome inheritance in spermatocytes as well as for male fertility PMID: 15993631
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side.
Protein Families
Aldolase class II family, Adducin subfamily
Tissue Specificity
Isoform C is expressed in nurse cells. Isoform A is produced in the nurse cell but transported into the oocyte at stage 1, localizes to the oocyte cortex at stage 8 and to the anterior pole from day 9 onwards. Isoform B is expressed in the somatic follicl
