Target Background

Function
E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase which accepts ubiquitin from an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme in the form of a thioester and then directly transfers the ubiquitin to targeted substrates. Required for regulation of cell proliferation in imaginal disks and germ cells. Acts as a negative regulator of hh, ci and dpp expression in the anterior of the eye disk.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Wnt-dependent inactivation of the Groucho/TLE co-repressor by the HECT E3 ubiquitin ligase Hyd/UBR5 is a key prerequisite that enables Armadillo/beta-catenin to activate transcription. PMID: 28689657
  2. hyperplastic discs (hyd), an E3 ubiquitin ligase, can differentially regulate the transcriptional outputs of Hh signaling. We show that loss of Hyd activity caused upregulation of some, but not all of Hh target genes. PMID: 24854243
  3. data document that, in addition to the tumour suppressor Merlin, another tumour suppressor, Hyd, also has a function in spermatogenesis PMID: 20604743
  4. hyperplastic discs encodes a HECT domain E3 ubiquitin ligase that is likely to act by targeting Cubitus interruptus and an unknown activator of hedgehog expression for proteolysis PMID: 12421709
