Target Background

Function
Acts as a scaffold, mediating interaction of ROPs with different proteins. Required for primary and adventitious root maintenance, but not for their formation. Promotes the stabilization of ARAC11 on the plasma membrane of the pollen tube initiation site but not the activation of ARAC11. Regulates directionality of polar auxin transport, and is required for the formation of a stable auxin maximum and tip localized auxin gradient during embryogenesis, organogenesis, and meristem activity. Involved in exocytosis and in the recycling of PIN proteins back to the plasma membrane.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Bimodal regulation of ICR1 levels generates self-organizing auxin distribution. PMID: 25468974
  2. RIP1 is involved in the positive feedback regulation of ROP1 localization to the plasma membrane, leading to the establishment of a polar site for pollen germination and pollen tube growth. [RIP1] PMID: 19825600
  3. ICR1 is part of an auxin regulated positive feedback loop realized by a unique integration of auxin-dependent transcriptional regulation into ROP-mediated modulation of cell polarity. PMID: 20098722
  4. ICR1 interacts with GTP-bound ROPs and is required for cell polarity and differentiation. PMID: 17493810
Subcellular Location
Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein. Nucleus.
Protein Families
ICR family
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in mature and germinating pollen. Expressed throughout the embryo but not in the hypophysis and quiescent center (QC). In roots, absent from the QC and the stem cells.
