Target Background

Function
Plays a role in cell migration, axon fasciculation, and morphogenesis. During gonad morphogenesis, involved in distal tip cell (DTC)-mediated guidance of gonad elongation, in maintaining their sharp tapering morphology and in their migration. Involved in the anterior-posterior positioning of QR neuroblast descendants by regulating the migratory speed of QR.p. Probably by acting as a receptor for apoptotic cells, plays a role in the clearance of apoptotic cells during mid-embryogenesis.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Double-mutant analysis between mnp-1, ina-1, and vab-1 mutations; as well as tissue specific rescue experiments; indicated that each of these function predominantly independent of each other and from different cell types to affect muscle cell migration. PMID: 18452914
  2. INA-1 plays an important role in defining the distinct migratory behavior of Q neuroblasts in C. elegans. PMID: 19349580
  3. Results reveal a role for integrin Ina-1 in regulating the plasma membrane targeting and netrin-dependent orientation of a specialized invasive membrane domain. PMID: 19686680
Subcellular Location
Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Cell projection, phagocytic cup. Cytoplasmic vesicle, phagosome membrane.
