Target Background

Function
Required for chloroplast photorelocation movement; chloroplast accumulation upon low blue light and for chloroplast movement to the bottom of cells in darkness, by modulating chloroplast actin (Cp-actin) filaments distribution, appearance and disappearance. May mediate a slight resistance to aluminum in root hair cells.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The J-domain is essential for JAC1 to regulate chloroplast photorelocation. PMID: 20562448
  2. JAC1 is an essential component of phototropin-mediated chloroplast movement. [JAC1] PMID: 16113208
  3. Overexpression of the F9E10.5 protein inhibits endocytosis in root hair cells by a disturbance of the transport system. PMID: 17150990
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm.
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in leaves and stems, but not in roots.
