Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Required for normal spindle orientation at male meiosis II and normal formation of tetrad of microspores. Acts as positive regulator of PS1 in male sporogenesis. Not involved in female meiosis.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Leaky ribosome scanning and alternative translation initiation sites (TISs) likely leads to the formation of two forms of JAS: a long version with an N-terminal Golgi localization signal and a short version with a different N-terminal signal targeting the protein to the plasma membrane. The ratio of the long and short forms of JAS is developmentally regulated. PMID: 28922756
  2. A detailed examination of two mutants, jason and ps1, has been reported, in which disturbed spindle position during male meiosis II results in the incorporation of previously separated chromosome groups into a single cell. PMID: 25757555
  3. JASON positively regulates AtPS1 expression, allowing the proper organization and orientation of metaphase II spindle plates in meiosis II.[JASON] PMID: 21257792
