Target Background

Function
Structural component of a potassium channel. Mediates the potassium permeability of membranes; potassium current is regulated by CaMKII and CASK. Has a role in growth of the perineurial glial layer of the larval peripheral nerve.
Gene References into Functions
  1. These results show that even a minor change in amino acid side-chain chemistry and size can have a dramatic impact on channel biophysics, and that RNA editing is important for fine-tuning eag channel's function. PMID: 23064203
  2. our results provide evidence that EAG represents a unique K(+) channel contributing to multiple K(+) currents in motoneurons helping to regulate excitability, consistent with previous observations in the Drosophila larval muscle. PMID: 22323637
  3. results suggest an important role of the intracellular regions in the generation of Eag currents PMID: 21059657
  4. Results suggest an important role of the intracellular linker regions in Mg-dependent gating processes of Eag channels. PMID: 20855938
  5. phosphorylated and regulated by calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II PMID: 11980904
  6. positioning of S6 aromatic residues relative to the central cavity of the channel, not inactivation per se determines drug block of HERG or eag channels PMID: 12209010
  7. eag potassium channel binds and locally activates calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II PMID: 14699099
  8. G297E substitution may cause premature, prolonged, or constitutive opening of the Eag channels by favoring the "unlocked" state of the channel PMID: 16452147
