Target Background

Function
Kinesin-like protein required for chloroplast movements and anchor to the plasma membrane. Mediates chloroplast movement via chloroplast actin (cp-actin) filaments. Required for the chloroplast avoidance response under high intensity blue light. Mediates redundantly with CHUP1 the nuclear avoidance response under high intensity blue light. May be involved in division plane determination.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Two kinesin-like proteins, KAC1 and KAC2, are essential for chloroplasts to move via cp-actin filaments and anchor to the plasma membrane. [KAC2] PMID: 20418504
Subcellular Location
Cell membrane.
Protein Families
TRAFAC class myosin-kinesin ATPase superfamily, Kinesin family, KIN-14 subfamily
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in roots, leaves, stems and flowers.
