Target Background

Function
Probable transcription factor which binds the E box motif 5'-CA[TC][AG]TG-3'. Essential for the specification of the neuroblast cell fate in the development of peripheral sense organs. Its role in the generation of sensory neurons may be through positively regulating the expression of the zinc finger protein ztf-11 during postdeirid neurogenesis. Required for specification of cell fate, acting in concert with lin-32, in the development of the male-specific genital sensilla (simple sense organs) known as rays. Involved in regulating glial specification, perhaps by suppressing a glial fate in different lineages during early embryogenesis.
Gene References into Functions
  1. LIN-32 may promote different target gene expression in neuroblast development. PMID: 24589937
  2. our results illustrate a mechanism whereby the regulated function of a proneural-class gene in a single neural lineage can both specify a neural precursor and actively pattern the fates of its progeny PMID: 21917811
Subcellular Location
Nucleus.
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in PVD motor neurons.
