Target Background

Function

Triacylglycerol (TAG) lipase active on triolein, trioctanoin, tributyrin and 1,3-Diolein, but not on phospho- and galactolipids. Involved but dispensable for TAG storage breakdown during seed germination.

AtLip1 exhibits strong homology to lysosomal acid lipase and was found to drive the synthesis of an active TAG lipase when expressed in the baculovirus system. [AtLip1] PMID: 16226259
