Target Background

Function
Plays a critical role in the incorporation of lipoproteins in the outer membrane after they are released by the LolA protein. Essential for E.coli viability.
Gene References into Functions
  1. LolA and LolB have similar unclosed {beta}-barrel structures PMID: 16091355
  2. the LolB-dependent incorporation of Pal was not affected by excess-free LolA, indicating that LolB specifically interacts with liganded LolA. PMID: 18029423
  3. With the 13C cent, 13Ca, and 13Cb chemical shifts data, the Chemical-Shift Index (CSI) method suggested that the secondary structure of LolB in solution essentially corresponded to that in the crystal structure. PMID: 19636844
  4. lipoprotein binding, membrane targeting and membrane incorporation of lipoproteins are intrinsic functions of LolB. PMID: 19678842
  5. kinetic parameters of lipoprotein transfer from LolA to LolB were determined PMID: 19716823
