Target Background

Function

Catalyzes the conversion of monodehydroascorbate to ascorbate, oxidizing NADH in the process. Involved in the detoxification of H(2)O(2) that escapes the peroxisome and causes oxidative damage to oil bodies.

MDAR4 component of the ascorbate-dependent electron transfer system is necessary to detoxify hydrogen peroxide which escapes from the peroxisome. PMID: 17449810
