Target Background

Function
Required cell non-autonomously for proper development of the excretory canals and for the long-range anterior-posterior migrations of embryonic neurons CAN, ALM and HSN. Plays a role, probably downstream of ced-10/rac1, in orientating axonal growth of HSN and AVM neurons in response to guidance cues such as slt-1. May regulate growth cone polarization by promoting asymmetric F-actin assembly. May be involved in signal transduction during cell migration.
Gene References into Functions
  1. MIG-10 (lamellipodin), an effector of UNC-40 in neurons has functions independent of UNC-6/UNC-40. Unlike other UNC-40 effectors, its expression is regulated by FOS-1A, a transcription factor that promotes basement membrane breaching. PMID: 24553288
  2. The CED-5 in turn signaled through CED-10/Rac1 and MIG-10/Lamellipodin to organize the actin cytoskeleton in presynaptic regions. PMID: 22451697
  3. Genetic analyses indicate that MIG-10/RIAM/lamellipodin functions downstream of the attractive guidance cue UNC-6/netrin and the repulsive guidance cue SLT-1/slit to direct the ventral migration of the AVM and PVM axons in C. elegans. PMID: 16563765
  4. Interaction between activated CED-10/Rac1 and MIG-10/lamellipodin triggers local cytoskeletal assembly and polarizes axon outgrowth. PMID: 18499456
