Target Background

Function
MSBP1 can bind to multiple steroid compounds with different affinities. Negatively regulates cell elongation and brassinosteroid signaling. May act as a coreceptor with BAK1 and enhances its endocytosis.
Gene References into Functions
  1. MSBP1 could enhance the cycling of PIN2-containing vesicles to stimulate the auxin redistribution under gravi-stimulation. PMID: 19825605
  2. Expression of MSBP1 in hypocotyls is suppressed by darkness and activated by light, suggesting that MSBP1, as a negative regulator of cell elongation, plays a role in plant photomorphogenesis. [MSBP1] PMID: 15608331
  3. MSBP1 enhances BAK1 endocytosis by interacting with its extracellular region, resulting in the reduced association of BRI1 and BAK1, and suppressed brassinosteroid signaling. PMID: 19532123
Subcellular Location
Cell membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein. Endosome membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein.
Protein Families
Cytochrome b5 family, MAPR subfamily
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in cotyledons, stems, roots, leaves, flower and silique stalks, pistils and stigmas, but not in anthers.
