Target Background

Function
Unconventional myosin that functions as actin-based motor protein with ATPase activity. Binds to membranes enriched in phosphatidylinositol 4-5-bisphosphate, and can glide along actin filaments when anchored to a lipid bilayer. Functions as antagonist for Myo31DF, an unconventional myosin with an essential role in the establishment of body left-right asymmetry.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Myo1B may play a role in the local midgut response pathway of the Imd innate immune response to Gram-negative bacterial infection PMID: 17855510
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Cytoplasm, cell cortex. Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side.
Protein Families
TRAFAC class myosin-kinesin ATPase superfamily, Myosin family
Tissue Specificity
In the embryo, expressed in gastric caeca, midgut cells of the proventriculus, and in the mid and hindgut. In the larval and adult gut brush border, expressed in the microvilli. Also expressed at high levels in follicle cells during oogenesis.
