Target Background

Function
Required for anther development and early tapetal function during microspore maturation. Regulates callose dissolution required for microspores release from the tetrads.
Gene References into Functions
  1. DYT1 regulates the expression of AMS, MS188/MYB80, TEK and MS1 for pollen wall formation, primarily via TDF1. PMID: 25284309
  2. The identification and characterization of TDF1 as a synonym for MYB35 using a map-based cloning strategy is reported. PMID: 18397379
Subcellular Location
Nucleus.
Tissue Specificity
Inflorescences-specific. Accumulates in anthers, especially in tapetum and meiocytes/microsporocytes and microspores during anther development.
