Target Background

Function
Type-I myosin implicated in the organization of the actin cytoskeleton. Required for proper actin cytoskeleton polarization. At the cell cortex, assembles in patch-like structures together with proteins from the actin-polymerizing machinery and promotes actin assembly. Functions as actin nucleation-promoting factor (NPF) for the Arp2/3 complex. Contributes to proper septation by transporting vesicles containing septal material to the division site and is involved in the formation of sterol-rich membrane domains at the cell division site. Required also for mating.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Yeast strains expressing mutant Myo1 exhibited defects in growth and endocytosis similar to those observed in the myo1 deletion strain. PMID: 26092123
  2. proteins encoded by the Myo1-associated mRNAs immunoprecipitated each other's transcripts, but not myosin mRNAs PMID: 19805578
  3. Phosphorylation of the Myo1 TEDS site by Pak1 and Nak1 plays a crucial role in regulating Myo1 localisation and cellular function. PMID: 19808887
  4. myo1p, is required for proper organization of distinct sterol-rich membrane domains. PMID: 16051179
  5. These results suggest a close relationship between Cam2 and Myo1. In addition, both F-actin and Myo1 localized with Cam2 in the leading edge region. PMID: 17202724
