Target Background

Function
External NADH dehydrogenase required for optimum cellular growth with a number of nonfermentable carbon sources, including ethanol. With NDE2, performes the mitochondrial oxidation of cytosolic NADH under these growth conditions. Regulates the mitochondrial glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, GUT2, also involved in cytosolic NADH oxidation.
Gene References into Functions
  1. impairment in the oxidation of cytosolic NADH by Nde1p is deleterious towards mitochondrial biogenesis due to an increase in reactive oxygen species release PMID: 23116202
Subcellular Location
Mitochondrion intermembrane space.
Protein Families
NADH dehydrogenase family
