Target Background

Function
Plays a role in regulating Notch activity. Plays a role in regulating the expression of CDKN1A and several members of the Wnt pathway, probably via its effects on Notch activity. Required during embryogenesis for inner mass cell survival.
Gene References into Functions
  1. These data demonstrate an essential role for Nle1 during organogenesis and in particular during axial development. PMID: 24875805
  2. These indings establish an essential role for Nle in hematopoietic stem cells. PMID: 24062412
  3. mNle is mainly required in inner cell mass cells, being instrumental for their survival, and raise the possibility that the death of mNle-deficient embryos might result from abnormal Notch signaling during the first steps of development. PMID: 16611995
Subcellular Location
Nucleus, nucleolus.
Tissue Specificity
Highest expression in heart, brain, lung, liver, skeletal muscle and testis with lower levels in spleen and kidney.
