Target Background

Function
Nitric oxide-sensitive repressor of genes involved in protecting the cell against nitrosative stress, such as ytfE, hmpA and ygbA. May require iron for activity. Does not regulates its own transcription.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The authors show that nsrR is expressed from a strong promoter, but that its translation is extremely inefficient, leading to a low cellular NsrR concentration. PMID: 26239124
  2. NsrR represses the hybrid cluster protein, HCP, and nrfA promoter that directs the expression of the periplasmic respiratory nitrite reductase. PMID: 17449618
  3. Identification of binding sites for the nitric oxide-sensitive transcriptional regulator NsrR. PMID: 18433631
  4. Overexpression of NsrR represses the tynA and feaB promoters and severely retards growth on phenylethylamine. PMID: 18658270
  5. Suppression of growth defects in E coli lacking phosphorolytic ribonnucleases was found to be controlled by nrR, a nitric oxide (NO)-sensitive transcriptional repressor. PMID: 19617368
  6. NsrR is a negative regulator of motility in E. coli K12. PMID: 19656291
