Target Background

Function
Odorant-binding protein required for olfactory behavior and activity of pheromone-sensitive neurons in response to the male-specific pheromone cis-vaccenyl acetate (cVA). Modulates social responsivity differently in males and females, regulating male aggression and female receptivity respectively.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Data indicate odorant binding protein 69a (Obp69a) as a player in the machinery that promotes behavioral plasticity to the same sensory stimuli in male and female flies. PMID: 29630598
Subcellular Location
Secreted.
Protein Families
PBP/GOBP family
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in the antenna, mostly on the anterior surface of the third antennal segment. Expressed in auxilary cells and the third antennal segment and exported to the sensillar lymph (at protein level).
