Target Background

Function
Voltage-dependent peptide-sensitive high conductance rectifying cation channel with a strong affinity for TIC32 that is imported into the chloroplast. Conductance is pH-dependent decreasing with decreasing pH values.
Gene References into Functions
  1. OEP37 may constitute a novel peptide-sensitive ion channel in the outer envelope of plastids with function during embryogenesis and germination. PMID: 16624824
Subcellular Location
Plastid, chloroplast outer membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
Protein Families
Plastid outer envelope porin OEP37 (TC 1.B.47) family
Tissue Specificity
Ubiquitously expressed at low levels. Mostly present in cotyledons, and accumulates in seedlings and embryos.
