Target Background

Function
Background potassium channel. Rectification is dependent on external potassium concentration. Acts as an outwardly rectifying channel but as external potassium levels increase, this is reversed.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Results suggested that ORK1 might play an important role in the regulation of sleep time and short-term memory in Drosophila. PMID: 28682878
  2. The level of Ork1 activity sets the cardiac rhythm by controlling the duration of the slow diastolic depolarization phase. PMID: 16890525
Subcellular Location
Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
Protein Families
Two pore domain potassium channel (TC 1.A.1.8) family
Tissue Specificity
Widespread expression in adult, strongest expression in muscle, brain and ovary. Also present at low levels in larva and embryo.
