Target Background

Function
Essential protein. Polymerase that creates the 3'-poly(A) tail of mRNA's. Also required for the endoribonucleolytic cleavage reaction at some polyadenylation sites. May acquire specificity through interaction with a cleavage and polyadenylation specificity factor (CPSF) at its C-terminus.
Gene References into Functions
  1. two novel functions of PAPS1 in ribosome biogenesis and redox homoeostasis. PMID: 26305463
  2. role in the connection between organ identity and growth patterns PMID: 24372773
Subcellular Location
Nucleus.
Protein Families
Poly(A) polymerase family
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in stems, cotyledons, hypocotyls, radicle, leaves, and, to a lower extent, in roots (including primary and secondary roots as well as root tips) and flowers. In radicle, roots and leaves, mainly present in vascular tissues.
