Target Background

Function
Atypical bHLH transcription factor that acts as negative regulator of a variety of shade avoidance syndrome (SAS) responses, including seedling elongation and photosynthetic pigment accumulation. Acts as direct transcriptional repressor of two auxin-responsive genes, SAUR15 and SAUR68. May function in integrating shade and hormone transcriptional networks in response to light and auxin changes.
Gene References into Functions
  1. both PAR1 and PAR2 redundantly enhance seedling deetiolation in multiple photoreceptor signaling pathways. PMID: 24335334
  2. PAR1 physically interacts with two groups of typical bHLH transcription factors that are positive regulators of the hypocotyl shade avoidance syndrome response and are also required for plant viability PMID: 23763263
  3. These results suggest the existence of a dual mechanism for PAR1 nuclear localization. PMID: 22311779
  4. PAR1-PRE1 and PAR1-PIF4 heterodimers form a complex HLH/bHLH network regulating cell elongation and plant development in response to light and hormones. PMID: 22331621
  5. Only the HLH and the adjacent C-terminal domain of PAR1 are required for biological activity PMID: 21205034
  6. PAR1 and PAR2 act in the nucleus to broadly control plant development, acting as negative regulators of a variety of the shade avoidance syndrome (SAS)responses. [PAR1] PMID: 17948056
