Target Background

Function
Essential for the establishment and maintenance of sister chromatid cohesion at centromere proximal and distal regions during S phase. Also required for chromosomal condensation.
Gene References into Functions
  1. a novel role for Pds5 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae PMID: 24963665
  2. propose that Pds5 maintains cohesion, at least in part, by antagonizing the polySUMO-dependent degradation of cohesin PMID: 24485833
  3. pds5-1 causes cell death in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae during early meiosis PMID: 15708575
  4. Pds5p and Top2p cooperate to promote proper chromosome segregation by a mechanism unrelated to either cohesion or catenation/decatenation PMID: 16096371
  5. These data suggest that Pds5 modulates the Rec8 activity to facilitate chromosome morphological changes required for homologue synapsis, DSB repair, and meiotic chromosome segregation. PMID: 19736318
