Target Background

Function
Regulator in phosphate metabolism and acts as a derepressor of another central regulator PHO5. Binds to the upstream activator sequence (UAS) of PHO5. It also binds to the TRP4, HIS4, and CYC1 promoters.
Gene References into Functions
  1. From the experimental data it was inferred that the transcription factors Bas1p, Pho2p, and Gcn4p play a central role in the regulatory events causing the Crabtree effect in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. PMID: 24655306
  2. Data show that Bas1 is localized to the nucleus under both repressing and derepressing conditions, and that Pho2 is not required for the association of Bas1 with chromosomal DNA. PMID: 16215179
Subcellular Location
Nucleus.
