Target Background

Function
Ets-related protein that functions as a negative regulator of photoreceptor development acting antagonistically to pnt and the proneural signal mediated by RAS. It acts upstream of SINA to inhibit R7 development.
Gene References into Functions
  1. a new layer of regulation whereby Yan and Pointed co-occupy regulatory elements to repress gene expression in a coordinated manner, with Pointed being unexpectedly required for the genome-wide occupancy of both Yan and the co-repressor Groucho. PMID: 29848501
  2. Yan recruitment promoted by this high-affinity ETS supersite not only biases Yan-Pnt competition at the specific CRM but also organizes Yan-repressive complexes in three dimensions across the eve locus PMID: 29535190
  3. DNA Occupancy of Polymerizing Transcription Factors PMID: 28076810
  4. We show that acal lies downstream of raw, a pioneer protein and interacts genetically with two genes involved in JNK signaling and dorsal closure: Connector of kinase to AP1 (Cka) and anterior open. PMID: 25710168
  5. Study identifies the E-twenty six (ETS) transcriptional repressor, Anterior open (Aop), as central to lifespan extension caused by reduced insulin/IGF-1 or Ras attenuation. PMID: 26119340
  6. instances of co-expressed Yan and Pnt-GFP in tissues with high RTK signaling cannot be explained by the current model, and thus they provide important contexts for future investigation of how context-specific differences in RTK signaling PMID: 24240101
  7. Anterior open inhibits MAP kinase and Wingless signaling to couple tracheal cell fate with branch identity. PMID: 23444354
  8. Bam and mir-7 antagonize the differentiation-promoting function of Yan to maintain the stem-like hematopoietic progenitor state during hematopoiesis. PMID: 21813570
  9. full-length Yan self associates via its N-terminal sterile alpha motif (SAM) domain to form higher-order complexes in living cells PMID: 20048052
  10. results show that the dynamic expression of the yan gene is specified by distinct spatial and temporal cis-acting regulatory elements in embryos and larval tissues PMID: 12632177
  11. Depolymerization of Yan by Mae represents a novel mechanism of transcriptional control that sensitizes Yan for regulation by receptor tyrosine kinases. PMID: 15260987
  12. Yan functions to modulate the turnover of DE-Cadherin-dependent adhesive complexes to facilitate border cell migration PMID: 16014514
  13. prior to Ras activation, the Mae/Yan interaction blocks premature nuclear export of Yan monomers PMID: 16027171
  14. A reversible loop of Yan phosphorylation implements a zero-order ultrasensitivity-like threshold mechanism, with the capacity to form sharp thresholds that are independent of the level of Yan. PMID: 16729063
  15. Fbl6 regulates Tel/Yan protein stability and allows appropriate spatiotemporal control of gene expression by these repressors. PMID: 18426905
