Function
Component of ribonuclease P, a protein complex that generates mature tRNA molecules by cleaving their 5'-ends. Also a component of RNase MRP, which cleaves pre-rRNA sequences.

  1. Study reports that the Pop1, Pop6, and Pop7 proteins, known components of RNase P and RNase MRP, bind to yeast telomerase RNA and are essential constituents of the telomerase holoenzyme. PMID: 27156450
  2. Crystal of Pop6 (18.2 kDa) and Pop7 (15.8 kDa) were obtained. They belonged to space group P4(2)22 (unit-cell parameters a = b = 127.2, c = 76.8 A, alpha = beta = gamma = 90 degrees ) and diffracted to 3.25 A resolution PMID: 20057077
  3. Footprint analysis of the interaction between the Pop6/7 heterodimer and the RNase mitochondrial RNA-processing RNA, combined with gel mobility assays, demonstrates that the Pop6/7 complex binds to a conserved region of the P3 domain. PMID: 17717080
