Target Background

Function
Transcriptional regulator that specifies poly-innervated organs (chemosensory bristle). Also controls the number of neurons.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The paired box gene Pox neuro (Poxn) is expressed in two bilaterally symmetric neuronal clusters of the developing adult Drosophila brain, a protocerebral dorsal cluster (DC) and a deutocerebral ventral cluster (VC). The study shows that all cells that express Poxn in the developing brain are postmitotic neurons. Poxn is crucial for pathfinding both in the DC and VC. PMID: 28441464
  2. Pox neuro controls cell lineages that give rise to larval poly-innervated external sensory organs in Drosophila. PMID: 25446278
  3. Pox neuro has roles in Drosophila male courtship, fertility, segmentation of the leg disc and antennal disc, and development of the wing hinge PMID: 12421707
  4. expression in embryonic brain PMID: 12702651
  5. poxn is involved in suppressing bract formation near the chemosensory bristles. PMID: 15286997
