Target Background

Function
Endonuclease RNase P responsible for the 5' maturation of tRNA precursors. Preferentially cleaves at the unusual cleavage site, but also able to cleave at the classical cleavage site. Also involved in the maturation of mRNAs in mitochondria.
Gene References into Functions
  1. PRORP1 protein substrate recognition requirements for tRNA PMID: 27494328
  2. In Arabidopsis mitochondria and plastids, a single protein called 'proteinaceous RNase P' (PRORP1) can perform the endonucleolytic maturation of tRNA precursors that defines RNase P activity. [PRORP1] PMID: 20473316
Subcellular Location
Mitochondrion. Plastid, chloroplast.
Protein Families
PPR family, P subfamily
