Target Background

Function
The 26S proteasome is involved in the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. The regulatory (or ATPase) complex confers ATP dependency and substrate specificity to the 26S complex.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Studied the yeast Rpt1 subunit and showed that following the removal of the initiation Met residue, the N-terminal Pro residue is either unmodified,mono-methylated, or di-methylated, and that this N-methylation has not been conserved throughout evolution. PMID: 24038880
  2. We determined the crystal structures of Hsm3 and its complex with the C-terminal domain of the Rpt1 subunit. PMID: 22334676
