Target Background

Function
The 26S proteasome is involved in the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. The regulatory (or ATPase) complex confers ATP dependency and substrate specificity to the 26S complex.
Gene References into Functions
  1. suggest that Rpt6 phosphorylation at S119 may play an important function in proteasome-dependent relief of proteotoxic stress that can be critical in protein aggregation pathologies PMID: 28662109
  2. Data suggest that the proteasome and the TOR signalling pathway synergistically regulate a significant portion of the genome to coordinate cell growth and starvation response. PMID: 23697803
  3. S. cerevisiae Rpt6's C-terminal domain undergoes dynamic helix-coil transitions enabled by helix-destabilizing glycines within its two most C-terminal alpha helices. PMID: 23562395
  4. The non-proteolytic requirement for the proteasomal Sug1 ATPase includes at least the heat and oxidative stress-responsive genes. PMID: 16517940
  5. Two alpha-subunits (alpha1 and alpha7) of the 20S proteasome in the rpt6-1 mutant differed from their wild-type counterparts and peptidase activities were found to be lower in the mutant than in the wild-type strain PMID: 18644121
