PsbR is an important link in the PSII core complex for stable assembly of the oxygen-evolving complex protein PsbP, whereas the effects on the assembly of PsbQ are probably indirect PMID: 16282331
the functional defects observed in the mutant were due to defective assembly and/or binding of the PsbP and PsbQ components to Photosystem II in the absence of the PsbR protein. PMID: 19643075
