Target Background

Function
Catalyzes the formation of phosphatidylethanolamine (PtdEtn) from phosphatidylserine (PtdSer). Plays a central role in phospholipid metabolism and in the interorganelle trafficking of phosphatidylserine. Together with psd2 and psd3, responsible for the majority of phosphatidylethanolamine synthesis.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Psd1, psd2, and psd3, encoding phosphatidylserine decarboxylases catalyze the phosphatidylserine to phosphatidylethanolamine. PMID: 19286980
Subcellular Location
[Phosphatidylserine decarboxylase 1 beta chain]: Mitochondrion. Mitochondrion inner membrane; Single-pass membrane protein; Intermembrane side.; [Phosphatidylserine decarboxylase 1 alpha chain]: Mitochondrion. Mitochondrion inner membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Intermembrane side.
