Target Background

Function
Calcium-binding peroxygenase involved in the degradation of storage lipid in oil bodies. May be involved in the interaction between oil bodies and vacuoles during seed germination. Acts as a negative regulator of abscisic acid responses in non-seed tissues.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Data indicate that linoleic and linolenic acids were the preferred substrates for PXG4 (AT1G70670; AtClO4); they are oxidized into the different positional isomers of the monoepoxides and into diepoxides. PMID: 22913587
  2. The oil-body -associated Ca(2+)-binding AtCLO4 protein acts as a negative regulator of abscissic acid responses in Arabidopsis.[AtCLO4] PMID: 21471120
Subcellular Location
Lipid droplet.
Protein Families
Caleosin family
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in roots, leaves, stems, shoots, flowers and germinated seeds. Barely detected in dry seeds prior to germination. Preferentially expressed in vascular bundles and in guard cells.
