Target Background

Function

Nuclear genome-encoded factor required for the accumulation of photosystem I (PSI). Functions as PSI biogenesis factor. Cooperates with PSA3 to promote the stable assembly of PSI in the thylakoid membrane. May target primarily the PsaC subunit.

These findings suggest that the role of Pyg7 in PSI biogenesis has evolved as an essential assembly factor by interacting with PsaC in Arabidopsis. [Pyg7] PMID: 28636143
