Target Background

Function
Receptor for abscisic acid (ABA) required for ABA-mediated responses such as stomatal closure and germination inhibition. Inhibits the activity of group-A protein phosphatases type 2C (PP2Cs) when activated by ABA.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Plants expressing the ABA receptors RCAR6/PYL12 combined up to 40% increased WUE with high growth rates, i.e., are water productive. Water productivity was associated with maintenance of net carbon assimilation by compensatory increases of leaf CO2 gradients, thereby sustaining biomass acquisition. PMID: 27247417
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Cell membrane.
Protein Families
PYR/PYL/RCAR abscisic acid intracellular receptor family
