Target Background

Function
Member of a two-component regulatory system QseB/QseC. Activates the flagella regulon by activating transcription of FlhDC. Currently it is not known whether this effect is direct or not.
Gene References into Functions
  1. study concludes that cross talk between the regulatory systems for virulence and metabolism of aromatic amines may depend upon the ability of QseBC and, to a lesser extent QseF, to regulate feaR as well as genes directly involved in virulence PMID: 29038253
  2. All components of the QseBC and PmrAB two-component systems (TCSs) are required for proper response to ferric iron. PMID: 28074004
  3. The presence of one sensor kinase, QseC, is required to regulate the interaction between the other sensor kinase, PmrB and the response regulators from both systems, QseB and PmrA, effectively creating a "four-component" system required for virulence. PMID: 28396353
  4. Near-parental level of motility, ability to respond to norepinephrine, and enhanced expression of locus of enterocyte effacement and curli genes might in part be responsible for increased colonization and fecal shedding of the qseBC mutant in calves. PMID: 24413602
  5. The authors discovered that QseC has phosphatase activity required for QseB dephosphorylation. PMID: 19703104
