Target Background

Function
Involved in exocytosis by regulating a late step in synaptic vesicle fusion. Could play a role in neurotransmitter release by regulating membrane flow in the nerve terminal. Plays a role in the recruitment of endophilin unc-57 to synaptic vesicles. Probably by controlling dense-core vesicle trafficking, plays a role in the AVG neuron-mediated formation of the right axon tract of the ventral nerve cord.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Our data suggest that AEX-3 activates RAB-3 in the context of AVG axon navigation. PMID: 27116976
  2. Data show that without synaptotagmin 1, the tight coupling between vesicle exocytosis and Rab3 GTP-binding protein membrane disassociation is disrupted. PMID: 25710274
  3. These data suggest a conserved role of RAB-3-/RAB3A-regulated neurotransmitter release in ethanol-related behaviors. PMID: 18397381
  4. Vesicles targeted to the presynaptic density by RAB-3/UNC-10 interactions are ideally positioned for efficient calcium-dependent release. PMID: 18721860
  5. rep-1 does not functions in the RAB-3 pathway, for synaptic transmission at neuromuscular junctions PMID: 19090809
