Target Background

Function
Involved in nucleotide excision repair of DNA damaged with UV light, bulky adducts, or cross-linking agents. Along with RAD1 forms an endonuclease that specifically degrades single-stranded DNA.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Rad1-Rad10 makes distinct contributions to inter-strand crosslink repair (ICLR) depending on cell cycle phase: in G1, Rad1-Rad10 removes ICL via non-nucleotide excision repair (NER), whereas in S/G2, Rad1-Rad10 facilitates NER-independent replication-coupled. Results suggest that NER function in ICLR is conserved from yeast to human and yeast will provide a tractable system to dissect this critical repair pathway. PMID: 29795289
  2. Presented is a model for the role of Rad1-Rad10 cleavage in formation of recombinants between dispersed repeats. PMID: 22885325
  3. yeast Nucleotide Excision Repair protein assembly is step-wise whereas Rad14 required to recruit Rad10 and Rad14 involvement is transient PMID: 20546858
  4. Rad1-Rad10 functions at different stages of GCR formation and there is an alternative pathway for the GCR formation that is independent of Rad1-Rad10 PMID: 15687264
  5. The ability of Rad1-Rad10 nuclease to associate in a complex with Rad14 is paramount for the targeting of this nuclease to lesion sites in vivo. PMID: 16428464
  6. The Rad10 along with Rad1 and Slx4 promotes efficient repair during gene conversion events involving a single 3' nonhomologous tail PMID: 18579504
  7. Taken together, these results suggest that radiation-induced microhomology-mediated recombination is under the same genetic control as the single-strand annealing apparatus that requires the RAD52, RAD1 and RAD10 genes. PMID: 19630519
  8. observations are consistent with a putative role of Rad10 protein in excising overhanging DNA ends after homology searching and refine the potential role(s) of the Rad1-Rad10 complex in DSB repair in yeast. PMID: 19729509
