Target Background

Function
Catalyzes the interconversion of beta-pyran and beta-furan forms of D-ribose. It also catalyzes the conversion between beta-allofuranose and beta-allopyranose.
Gene References into Functions
  1. These novel observations strongly suggest that the assembly of oligomeric proteins such as RbsD may occur before the completion of subunit folding. PMID: 19937196
  2. rbsD was found to mainly exist as decamers with a small portion of apparently larger oligomeric forms, both of which are able to refold/reassemble effectively in a spontaneous way after being completely unfolded PMID: 16731978
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm.
Protein Families
RbsD / FucU family, RbsD subfamily
