Target Background

Function
Dual specificity enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of pseudouridine from uracil-2604 in 23S ribosomal RNA and from uracil-35 in the anticodon of tRNA(Tyr). Can, to a small extent, also react with uracil-2605.

  1. Analysis of total tRNA isolated from E. coli pseudouridine synthase knock-out mutants identified RluF as the enzyme responsible for this modification. PMID: 27551044
  2. Results describe the crystal structure of an RluF-RNA complex, and suggest that a base-pair rearrangement is the key to selectivity of RluF for U2604 of the ribosome. PMID: 19298824
