Target Background

Function

Essential component of the RMI complex, a complex that plays an important role in the resolution step of homologous recombination, in a process called Holliday Junction dissolution, to limit DNA crossover formation in cells. Together with TOP3A, is essential for the resolution of meiotic recombination intermediates, a step that prevents entanglement of the parental chromosomes.

Gene References into Functions

The results show that the DUF1767 domain and the OB-fold domain 1 are both essential for the function of AtRMI1 in DNA cross-link repair as well as meiotic recombination, but partially dispensable for somatic homologous recombination suppression. PMID: 23956219
BLAP75/Rmi1 is a key protein of the meiotic homologous recombination machinery. PMID: 19096505
AtTOP3alpha and AtRMI1 are involved in the suppression of crossover recombination in somatic cells and DNA repair. PMID: 19096507
