Target Background

Function
Non-SCF-type F-box protein involved in the endocytic with the vacuolar sorting pathway. Acts as a repressor of YPT52 by inhibiting the formation of active, GTP-bound, YPT52. Involved in the defense mechanism against methylmercury toxicity.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Roy1, previously called Ymr258c, regulates cell viability and intracellular trafficking by inhibiting Ypt52, which may provide an explanation for the dormancy of Ypt52. PMID: 21389113
  2. Its overexpression confers resistance to methylmercury in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. PMID: 19652464
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Cytoplasmic vesicle membrane; Peripheral membrane protein.
