Target Background

Function
Acts as a transcriptional activator that allows virus to initiate a latent state. Following infection, participates, together with cIII, in activation of the Pe and Pi promoters, which are responsible for the transcription of the cI (repressor) and int (integrase) genes, respectively. Both of these gene products are required for the establishment of latency.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Data indicate that none of the bacteriophage lambda protein cII mutant frequencies (MFs) measured at any time point was significantly higher than the corresponding control MFs PMID: 26232257
  2. report the first purification of HflK and HflC separately as active and functional proteins and show that each can interact with HflB on its own and each inhibits the proteolysis of lambdaCII PMID: 20599668
  3. in the model of CII structure, protein-protein contacts for dimer and tetramer formation are different PMID: 15571724
Protein Families
