Target Background

Function
Acts as a regulatory subunit of the 26S proteasome which is involved in the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. Necessary for activation of the CDC28 kinase.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Assimilation of the final lid subunit of the 26S proteasome, Rpn12, triggers a large-scale conformational remodeling of the nascent lid that drives regulatory particles assembly, in part by relieving steric clash with the base. PMID: 26451487
  2. Data show that proteasome subunits Rpt1, Rpt4, Rpn8, Rpn12, Pre6, and Pre10 are recruited to GAL10 rapidly upon galactose induction. PMID: 22474342
  3. 19S RP modulates SAGA complex using its ATPase components, thereby facilitating subsequent transcription events at promoters. PMID: 16269334
  4. Mass spectra of the intact lid complex from Saccharomyces cerevisiae show that eight of the nine subunits are present stoichiometrically and that a stable tetrameric subcomplex forms in solution. PMID: 16869714
