Target Background

Function
Required for proper chloroplast development, most likely through regulating plastid-encoded polymerase (PEP) dependent chloroplast transcription. Acts as a component of the transcriptionally active plastid chromosome that is required for plastid gene expression.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Data suggest that, at ATP concentrations that promote FLN1 homomeric interactions, the FLN1-FLN2 hetero-oligomer is dominant form in vitro; FLN1 associates with a large protein complex in chloroplasts independent of ATP. PMID: 28377494
  2. TAC7 can interact with the four TAC components including FLN1, TAC10, TAC12 and TAC14 which are involved in redox state changes, phosphorylation processes and phytochrome-dependent light signaling. PMID: 23082802
  3. FLN1 and FLN2 are essential for growth and development. PMID: 22770232
  4. Data strongly suggests an important role for TRX z and both FLNs in the regulation of plastid-encoded RNA polymerase-dependent transcription in chloroplasts. [FLN1] PMID: 20511297
Subcellular Location
Plastid, chloroplast.
