Target Background

Function

Probable microtubule-associated peroxisomal protein required for chloroplast biogenesis and for the formation of the prolamellar body and prothylakoids in etioplasts. Not involved in peroxisomal metabolism, including mobilization of storage compounds during germination, fatty acid beta-oxydation or photorespiration.

Gene References into Functions

A mutation in SCO3 compromises chloroplast biogenesis and structure. Localization to peroxisomes is necessary for its function. PMID: 20978221
