Target Background

Function

Seminal fluid metalloprotease which is transferred to females during mating and is required for processing of two other seminal fluid proteins Acp26Aa and Acp36DE in mated females.

Gene References into Functions

Data show that Semp1 (CG11864) activational cleavage in male ejaculates necessitates female factors for full activity; however in females, Semp1 is fully activated but substantially delayed. PMID: 24514904
Astacin-type metalloprotease CG11864 in seminal fluid is necessary to process two other seminal proteins: the ovulation hormone ovulin (Acp26Aa) and the sperm storage protein Acp36DE. PMID: 17116868
